ABOUT BASIL
Basil is a Bengaluru-based D2C brand that designs everyday essentials for kids and parents. Our range covers lunchboxes and food jars, water bottles and school bags, sold through our own website and leading online marketplaces.
THE ROLE
Design the experience parents have on Basil's D2C website, from the homepage and product pages to cart and checkout. You'll use customer research and site data to make the site easier to shop and work closely with our Shopify developer to ship what you design.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design end-to-end website journeys in Figma: homepage, collection and product pages, cart, checkout and account.
- Create wireframes, user flows and high-fidelity, responsive designs, with mobile first.
- Build and maintain a website design system of components, styles and patterns aligned with the Basil brand.

- Use analytics, heatmaps, session recordings and customer feedback to find friction and improve conversion.
- Plan and run usability tests with parents, and turn findings into design changes.
- Design landing pages for launches, campaigns and sale events with the brand and design teams.
- Hand off clear specs and prototypes to the Shopify developer and review builds before they go live.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 2 - 4 years of experience designing websites or apps, ideally for e-commerce or D2C brands.
- A portfolio showing UX process (research, flows, wireframes) as well as polished visual design.
- Expert in Figma, including auto layout, components and interactive prototypes.
- Strong understanding of e-commerce UX, conversion and mobile-first design.
- Comfortable working with data from GA4, heatmap and A/B testing tools.
- Clear communicator who can explain design decisions to non-designers.
GOOD TO HAVE
- Familiarity with Shopify themes and their limits; basic HTML and CSS; experience with Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity or similar tools; accessibility (WCAG) basics.
